I returned yesterday from my trip to Vegas to witness the 2009 WSOP Main Event Final Table. (It was AWESOME!) Apologies to all. I had expected to be blogging from Las Vegas, but, ran into technical difficulties and was unable to use my equipment. So, from a technical standpoint, let’s call it a “learning experience” and move on. I will be posting a log of the events with pics later.  

2009 WSOP Main Event Payouts

1. $8,546,435 – Joseph Cada – starting stack = 13.215M chips
2. $5,182,601 – Darvin Moon – starting stack = 58.93M chips
3. $3,479,485 – Antoine Saout – starting stack = 9.5M chips
4. $2,502,787 – Eric Buchman – starting stack = 34.8M chips
5. $1,953,395 – Jeff Shulman – starting stack = 19.58M chips
6. $1,587,133 –  Steven Begleiter – starting stack = 29.885M chips
7. $1,404,002 – Phil Ivey – starting stack = 9.765M chips
8. $1,300,228 – Kevin Schaffel – starting stack = 12.39M chips
9. $1,263,602 – James Akenhead – starting stack = 6.8M chips

The results turned out to be very different from what thousands of No Limit Texas Hold Em fans had predicted. Many had chosen Phil Ivey and Darvin Moon to be the winner of the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Indeed, Moon made it to the Final 2. Ivey, who busted out in 7th, wasn’t as fortunate.

How did PokaPaloma.com’s voters do?
The Lion’s share of voters at PokaPaloma.com chose Phil Ivey to win the 2009 WSOP Main Event. Darvin Moon received the second highest number of votes with Eric Buchman receiving the third highest. Curiously enough, Joseph Cada had received one vote. (I have to admit Joseph Cada was not even on my radar.)

Begleiter, Schaffel, Saout, and Akenhead received no votes from PokaPaloma.com’s followers.
