Let’s recap:
- The Flop has been dealt
- The post-flop betting round has completed
- The Turn (4th Street) has been dealt
- The third round of betting has completed
The River
Once the third round of betting has completed, the dealer burns the top card in the deck (places it to the side so that it is not in play), then deals one last card to the middle of the table. This card is called the River. It is also referred to as 5th street.
Now there are 5 community cards on the board. The 5th community card is the last card dealt. Each player re-evaluates his/her hand assessing the impact of the 5th card on their hand – as well as – and perhaps more importantly – considering the reaction of the other players upon seeing the River, and the final betting round begins.
Fourth Betting Round
As before, betting occurs in a clockwise fashion, starting with the Small Blind and ending with The Button.
If the Small Blind is no longer in the hand, betting begins with the first player still in the hand seated to the left of the Small Blind.
If The Button is no longer in the hand, betting ends with the player still in the hand seated closest to the right of The Button.
Betting choices are the same as with the post-flop betting.
