Let’s recap:
- The flop has been dealt
- The post-flop betting round has completed
The Turn
Once the post-flop betting has completed, the dealer burns the top card in the deck (places it to the side so that it is not in play), then deals one card to the middle of the table. This card is called the Turn. It is also referred to as 4th street.
Now there are 4 community cards on the board. Each player re-evaluates his/her hand assessing the impact of the 4th card on their hand – as well as – and perhaps more importantly – considering the reaction of the other players still in the hand upon seeing the Turn, and another betting round begins.
Third Betting Round
As before, betting occurs in a clockwise fashion, starting with the Small Blind and ending with The Button.
If the Small Blind is no longer in the hand, betting begins with the first player still in the hand who is seated to the left of the Small Blind.
If The Button is no longer in the hand, betting ends with the player still in the hand who is seated closest to the right of The Button.
Betting choices are the same as with the post-flop betting.
